The processing time of discharging container by truck is composed of travel time spent in the network and the time waiting for the service of yard cranes and quay cranes. The objective of this model is to reduce congestion and waiting time of each container, so that the time ships spent at the terminal can be reduced. It shows that the heuristic algorithm are better than those from the genetic algorithm.

However, from the operational point of view, they are highly interdependent.

If container is allocated to yard block far from its unloading ship, the waiting time will increase due to the limitation of mechanical performance of yard cranes. Truck scheduling and storage allocation problem is NPhard, genetic algorithm and greedy heuristic algorithm are designed to attain near optimal solutions. The processing time of discharging container by truck is composed of travel time spent in the network and the time waiting for the service of yard cranes and quay cranes.

It shows that the heuristic algorithm are better than those from the genetic algorithm.. The objective of this model is to reduce congestion and waiting time of container trucks in the terminal so as to decrease the makespan of discharging containers. This paper proposed an integer programming model handling these two problems as whole.

The sorting process at the airport terminal and the effects of truck arrival time on the completion of the sort.

Particular attention is given to scheduling the start time for the sorting process, to balance tradeoff between maximizing sort productivity and minimizing the endtime of the sort. The tool produces graphs of expected cumulative arrival and completion of work and also indicates when there is substantial likelihood of starvation. The tool also provides what if capability so that the effects of change in schedule can be evaluated. The methods are being implemented as Webbased tool. This provides some guidance in whether truck should be released immediately or held over for late shipments. Lastly, the tool provides means for information sharing among multiple sites.

This will entail monitoring current traffic conditions and incorporating the conditions in predictions for travel time allowing the user to forecast the arrival of work, and because it demands relatively large investments in facilities and labor. This research models the sorting process at the airport terminal and the effects of change in schedule can be evaluated.
